Ralph Maynard Bender of Leasburg, NC, died Monday, June 20, 2016 in Danville, VA at the Riverside Health and Rehab Center. He was born in Roanoke, VA to the late Ralph Chatham and Norma Maynard Bender. Mr. Bender was a graduate and two sport varsity athlete at The Citadel. He received his Master’s degree in business. After college, he served in Korea as an officer and pilot in the US Army. He was active in his community as a church leader, mentor, and coach. Following his career as a financial consultant in Durham, he retired to Leasburg, where he was a member of Leasburg United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife of 44 years, Brenda Cook Bender of the home; his son, Chris Bender and wife, Danelle of Shawnee, KS; and his grandchild, Cole Bender.
