Rodolph Davis “R.D.” Moseley, widower of Marianne Stoudenmire Moseley, entered into eternal rest on the morning of January 6, 2012. Residence, Eutawville, SC. The relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral services in The Summerall Chapel, The Citadel, Sunday, January 8 at 2:00 p.m. A reception will be held at Mark Clark Hall following the service. Burial will be private. Mr. Moseley was born May 27, 1927 in Salters, SC, the son of Albert Rodolph Moseley and Naomi Davis. He joined the US Army at 18 and after serving in the Army moved to Charleston and began working for Packet Motor Express, then owned by the News and Courier. He began classes at The Citadel under the GI bill and graduated in the Class of 1953. He began Bulldog Hiway Express in 1959 with one truck. Active in the trucking industry, he was a past Chairman of the South Carolina Trucking Association, past State Representative to the American Trucking Association and past President of the Charleston Motor Carriers Association. He was a lifetime member of The Citadel Alumni Association. He began the R.D. Moseley Scholarship at The Citadel Brigadier Foundation in 2007. An active member of the North Charleston Rotary Club, he was a Paul Harris Fellow. As part of the Citizen’s Democracy Corps, US State Department, he traveled to Russia and Romania to consult with trucking companies entering the non-communist economic world. He made two trips over the years and eventually sponsored his translator as a student to the College of Charleston. A lifelong fisherman, he was a founder of The Lowcountry Bassmasters Fishing Club. A 1945 graduate of Kingstree High School, R.D. held an annual reunion for his classmates. He sponsored an amateur volleyball team that included Olympic players and traveled the country for years. He is survived by Rodolph D. “Rod” Moseley, Jr. (Laura) of Mt. Pleasant, SC and Charles Albert Moseley (Gay) of Eutawville, SC; four grandchildren: Reagan, Marianne, William and Carlie Moseley. He is predeceased by a sister: Martha Moseley; two brothers: Walter and Frank Moseley. Memorials may be made to The R.D.
