Pierre N. McGowan, Sr., 96, widower of Faye McGowan, of Beaufort, SC, died Monday, December 26, 2022 in Sprenger Healthcare of Port Royal.
Mr. McGowan was born on December 20, 1926 in Savannah, GA. He is the son of the late Samuel McGowan and Henrietta Marie Vurpillot.
Surviving are one son, Pierre Noel McGowan Jr.; three daughters, Nancy Ruth Townsend (David Townsend), Marti Louise Chitwood and Kelly Noel McGowan; two grandchildren, Jeremy Alan Herschaft (Dr. Meroe Morse) and Jordan Blair Herschaft; great grandchildren, Rainer Dryden Herschaft, Seneca Pierre Herschaft, Haven Louise Herschaft, and Finley Lillian Herschaft.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made in his name to The Open Land Trust, 905 Charles Street Beaufort, SC 29902, for land protection on St. Helena’s Island and the surrounding barrier islands.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, January 6, 2023 at 3:00pm at First Scots Presbyterian Church of Beaufort.
