Walhalla Paul Micagah Brown, 73, husband of Elinor Johnson Brown, of 105 Playground Road, Walhalla, S.C., died Sunday, Dec. 25, 2005. A native of Oconee County, Mr. Brown was the son of the late Morris Edward and Lucy Hunter Brown. He was a retired employee of Advance Auto Parts of West Union. Mr. Brown was also the former owner of Otasco/Coast-to-Coast store of Walhalla. He was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, a U.S. Army veteran, and served as a Captain in the Army National Guard. Mr. Brown was a longtime member of Walhalla City Council and served two terms as Mayor of Walhalla. He was a member and past president of the Walhalla Chamber of Commerce, member of Walhalla Oktoberfest Committee and was a former member of Walhalla Jaycees and Walhalla Lion’s Club. Mr. Brown was a member of Keowee Sailing Club. At the time of his death, he had served on the Board of Directors of Oconee Federal Savings and Loan for over 27 years. He was a member of the Walhalla High School Class of 1950, and a 1954 graduate of The Citadel. In addition to his wife of 51 years, Mr. Brown is survived by daughters, Martha E. Brown, MD (Wagner) of Tampa, Fla., and Melinda Brown Reece-Williams of Walhalla, S.C. sisters, Julia B. Ballenger of Westminster, S.C., and Caroline B. Williams of Rock Hill, S.C. and grandchildren, Josh Reece, Mariah Williams, and Schyler Wagner. In addition to his parents, Mr. Brown was predeceased by a brother, Hunter Brown. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 29, 2005, at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, with burial in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. this evening, Dec. 28, 2005, at Davenport Funeral Home.
