Patrick “Bo” Cleburne Fant, Jr., a beloved father, died on Friday, December 1, 2023, at the age of 89.
Born on October 2, 1934, in Greenville, he was the son of the late Patrick C. Fant, Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Carnes Fant.
He graduated from Greenville High School (1952) and then attended The Citadel (1956), where he was a member of The Summerall Guards. After graduating from The Citadel, he served in the U.S. Army. After his service Bo obtained his J.D. from the University of South Carolina School of Law (1962).
After graduating from law school, Bo returned home to practice real estate law with his father at Rainey, Fant & McKay. He later founded Fant & Fant Attorneys at Law with his father, and served the Greenville community handling real estate matters, which he loved, for over 50 years. In the Spring of 2012, he attended the S.C. Bar Foundation’s Nifty Fifty celebration. Bo’s passion for being a lawyer was passed on to his son Patrick, and three grandchildren, making four generations of attorneys serving in the Greenville community. Bo was a member of The Kiwanis Club and The Cotillion.
Bo loved his family and cherished his grandchildren, who affectionately called him “BBo”. He demonstrated love and dedication to his family, who he loved unconditionally. His legacy will continue on with his loving son, Patrick Cleburne Fant, III (Jennifer); three grandchildren, Patrick Cleburne Fant, IV, Lillian Gower Fant, and James Edward Fant; niece, Mary Hodges and nephew, James Hodges (Heidi).
In addition to his parents, Patrick Cleburne Fant, Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Carnes Fant, Bo was preceded in death by his beloved son, Edward Gower Fant; wife, Audrey Goodwin Fant; sister, Susanne Hodges and husband, Friday; and the mother of his children, Sarah “Sally” Gower Lowe Fant.
Bo always showed a grateful spirit to those who cared for him. The family wishes to thank Beth Walker and Wells Hamby, who walked alongside the family during their care for Bo in his last few years. The family is especially grateful for the care provided through Pruitt Palliative Care and McCall Hospice Home.
Bo’s family rejoices in his resurrection and is grateful to our Heavenly Father for the life they shared with him.
