Samuel Todd, '25, received the Hospital-wide Quality Star Award from Mary Washington Healthcare in Fredericksburg, Va., for preventing a system-wide "near miss." While caring for a patient, he noticed that the IV was becoming cloudy and became suspicious of the mixture. He checked the data on the medication regarding IV compatibility and found no contraindications. Trusting his intuition, Todd decided to take the entire IV set to the pharmacist, who eventually found that Todd was correct. This resulted in a system-wide alert throughout the hospital regarding the incompatibility, immediate changes in administration practices and a notification to the drug manufacturer. Todd has only been a Registered Nurse for a year and a half and has already been nominated seven times for the DAISY Award for extraordinary and compassionate nursing care. 🩺

September 15, 2000: The Holliday Alumni Center was dedicated in honor of John Monroe J. Holliday, The Citadel Class of 1936, who served on The Citadel's Board of Visitors for more than 30 years and in 1992 gave the lead gift to build The Citadel's Alumni Center.

The Citadel’s Class of 1966 recently returned to the Holliday Alumni Center to celebrate their 60th Reunion, and if their weekend was any indication, this class isn’t slowing down anytime soon. The Class watching our Bulldogs winning on the gridiron in three overtimes added an exclamation point to the weekend. The Class of ’66 is already looking ahead to 2056 and their 90th Reunion — with the props prepared. We wouldn’t expect anything less from a class that knows how to celebrate. A very special thank you to the Class of 1966 for returning to campus, sharing their stories and memories, and continuing to demonstrate what it means to be an alumnus of The Citadel.
