Oliver Lloyd Moody, Jr., 83, of Daytona Beach, Fla., passed away on April 4, 2012. He was born to the late Oliver Lloyd Moody and Margaret Biddle Moody in August 1928 in Daytona Beach, Florida. His mother passed away when Lloyd was a young child and he was reared in Allendale, South Carolina by two precious aunts. He spent summers in Daytona Beach with his father. He graduated from The Citadel-The Military College of South Carolina in 1950, where he was a member of the swim team, Concert Choir, the Air Force ROTC rifle team and the Summerall Guards- a crack Senior Drill Team whose performance is based on a series of movements of German close order drill using a silent count. Summers during the Citadel years were spent as a lifeguard with the Daytona Beach Red Cross Volunteer Life Saving Corps on the beach he always loved. After graduation from the Citadel he served in the US Air Force in Iceland and Germany. Following his military service he worked as a manager for Creighton’s Restaurant in Fort Lauderdale before joining the stock brokerage firm of Merrill Lynch in Orlando. He moved back to Daytona Beach with the brokerage firm of Francis I. Dupont and ultimately retired from the successor firm of Smith Barney as a financial Consultant in 2000.He also retired from the US Air Force Reserve with the rank of Major and during this time served as the US Air Force Academy recruiter in this region of Florida. Lloyd was a member of the Daytona Beach Kiwanis, Jaycees, Checkered Flag Committee and the First Baptist Church of Daytona Beach. He enjoyed hunting, flying, snow skiing, motorcycling, and surfing. He is also predeceased by both of his aunts. Lloyd is survived by a son, William Joseph Rotne and friends and caregivers, Cici and Hyatt Brown and their family. Visitation will be at the Lohman Funeral Home; 733 W. Granada Blvd. Ormond Beach on Monday April 9th from 5-7 pm. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 10th in the Chapel of Lohman Funeral Home, Ormond at 10 am. Graveside services with full military honors will follow at Daytona Memorial Park, Daytona Beach. Tags: 1950
