Norman Dwight Gage, Jr., 69, husband of Catherine Gage, passed away at his Mt. Pleasant home Sunday, February 8, 2009. Norm was born November 8, 1939 in New London, CT, the son of the late Captain Norman Dwight and Helen Reed Gage. He graduated from The Citadel in 1963, a member of K Company. He was fortunate to live in many places throughout his life although he considered his roots to be in Newport and Lake Sunapee, NH. He enjoyed his career as an Agent with Durham Life and Liberty Life, although his most meaningful and cherished passion was working with people affected by brain injury. He also was quite the fighter, living and loving life the past 15 years as a heart transplant recipient. Norm will be deeply missed by his wife of 27 years, Cathey; his step-sons: Shea Murdock and wife Kelly Solon of Rye, NY and Chad Murdock and wife Paula of Charleston, SC; his children, son Norman D. Gage of Manchester, NH and daughter Merritt Miller and husband James of Charleston, SC. He will also be missed by his sister Ann Kitchel of South Stafford, VT and his 8 grandchildren: Craig, Brent, Holly, Jade, Jeremy, Matthew, Parc and Mia. Memorial Service for Norm will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, February 14, 2009 followed by a Celebration of Norm’s Life with Family and Friends at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, Mt.
