Nicholas W. Fleischmann, Sr., 74, of The Woodlands, TX passed away at his home in The Woodlands on Monday, September 2, 2013 after a long and courageous battle against Parkinson’s Disease. Nick was born on September 10, 1938 in Port Jefferson, NY to Nicholas and Irene (Walker) Fleischmann. He graduated from Patchogue High School in 1956 and from his beloved college, The Citadel, in 1960. Upon graduating he served 9 years in the US Army both active duty and reserve. Nick went on to receive his master’s degree in education from Hofstra University. After a six year teaching career, Nick spent the next 32 years working for Wyeth-Ayerst Laboratories in their sales and sales training departments until his retirement in 1998. Nick is survived by his wife of 53 years, Ann (Van Wyen) Fleischmann, and his children, son Nicholas W. Fleischmann, Jr. and wife Holly of Fresno, CA, daughter Mary Ellen Bryant of The Woodlands and son-in-law John Bryant of Dallas, TX. He is also survived by his 10 grandchildren, Kaycee Fleischmann of Grand Island, NE, Nicholas lll, Jacob, Emily, Lily, Rhiannon, Anna, Maggie, and Charlee all of Fresno, CA and Chance Bryant of The Woodlands and one great grandchild, Luke Nicholas. Nick also leaves behind his two brothers, Robert Fleischmann and wife Marilyn of Las Vegas, NV and Arthur and Joann Fleischmann of Lake Havasu, AZ, Nick was uncle and great uncle to many loved nieces and nephews as well. Nick loved his family and friends, was a devoted member of The Woodlands Community Presbyterian Church where he was the moderator of the mission committee, spent 24 years officiating high school and college football in both Connecticut and Pennsylvania, golf, and pursued everything in his life with vigor and passion. To say Nick loved his life, his family, and his Lord is an understatement and all those who knew him were better for having been blessed with having him in their lives. He will be deeply missed. A celebration of Nick’s life will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, September 14, 2013 at The Woodlands Community Presbyterian Church, 4881 West Panther Creek Dr., The Woodlands, TX 77381. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to The Houston Area Parkinson’s Association, The Woodlands Community Presbyterian Church Mission Committee, Vitas Innovative Hospice-Houston, or any charity that has special meaning.
