Nicholas J. (Niko) Agnos, of Haymarket, Va., died Sept. 17, 2021. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 30 years, Lee; children Katie, John, Jake, and Zachary Agnos; parents Nickie and John Agnos; brother Frank Agnos; sister Tigie Agnos; mother and father-in-law, Karen and George Miller, and endless uncles, aunts, cousins, brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews, all whom he loved more than anything. Family was what he valued most. Niko was born December 20, 1964 in Fairfax, VA. From a very young age, Niko showed a fierce competitive spirit and a passion for sports, which he carried throughout his life. After graduating from W.T. Woodson High School, Niko attended the Citadel where he played Division 1 soccer. By his senior year, he had garnered acknowledgement as a premier player. He was named Captain of the team and was an All-Conference selection. Although soccer was his first passion, his true love became baseball. Nothing made him happier than being at the baseball field. Whether it was coaching little league or being his kids’ number one fans in the stands, he was always present with a charismatic smile. He brought life into everyone he met, instantly became friends with strangers, and deeply loved and cared for his community. Niko was hard working, intelligent, generous, and sacrificed so much for those around him. His values and character were nothing short of upstanding and admirable, and he will forever leave an impact on those with whom he laughed and loved. Our love for Niko will endure. We pray that God will rest his soul and has already welcomed Niko into His kingdom. Our family finds comfort knowing Niko now has the best seat in the house. Due to Covid concerns, a private funeral service is scheduled for Niko on September 22, 2021 at 10:30 am at Saint Katherine’s Greek Orthodox Church located at 3149 Glen Carlyn Road, Falls Church, VA 22041.
