Dr. Thomas Hallman
Class of 1969
Chancellor of the University of South Carolina-Aiken 2001-2012. After a tour of duty with the 82nd Airborne, he returned to The Citadel Graduate College to earn a Masters Degree. A high school teacher and coach, co-owner and creative director of an advertising agency, executive director of a school-to-work initiative, and over 30 years working in higher education in SC, he earned a Ph.D.from USC in '93. During his tenure as Chancellor he increased enrollment to 3200, number of degrees offered by 3,enhanced the prestige and academic recognition of the college and added numerous athletic facilities. Because of Dr. Hallman Chancellorship, USC-Aiken is a distinct asset to the USC system and the state of SC.
