Morris Solomon Blum MARION – Mr. Morris Solomon Blum, 86, died Wednesday, November 15, 2006, in Marion County Medical Center after an extended illness. A graveside service will be conducted by Rev. Daniel Inabinet at 2 p.m. Friday, November 17, in Rose Hill Cemetery, directed by Richardson Funeral Home. The family will receive friends after the service at the home, 901 Cherokee Avenue in Marion. Mr. Blum was born in Dillon County, a son of the late Isadore Blum and Belle Shafer Blum. He was also predeceased by a son, Allan P. Blum. Mr. Blum was a graduate of Dillon High School and The Citadel. Mr. Blum was a retired business man. He owned and operated MiLady’s Shoppe Inc. in Marion and Florence for fifty years. He built Francis Marion Plaza in 1973 and later Francis Marion Mini-Storage. Mr. Blum served the U.S. Army as a first lieutenant during WWII. He retired from the South Carolina National Guard after 27 years of service as a lieutenant colonel. Mr. Blum was 32nd degree Mason. He belonged to Cypress River Club for over fifty years. Mr. Blum was an avid U.S.C. Gamecock fan. He attended most home football games for over 30 years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and never met a stranger. Mr. Blum is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Elizabeth Porter Blum of the home; a son, Richard M. (Theresa) Blum of Pleasant View; daughters, Diane B. (Bill) Bean of Spartanburg, Cindy B. (Robin) Rogers of Marion; daughter-in-law, Kathy W. Blum of Conay; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the Waccamaw Community Foundation for Allan Blum Scholarship, 501 21st Ave. North, Myrtle Beach, SC 29577
