A memorial service for Moffatt Dupre Bradford, 85, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 8, 2013, at Trenholm Road United Methodist Church, with burial in the church memorial garden. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 7, 2013, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel. Moffatt Dupre Bradford was born in Columbia Baptist Hospital March 7, 1927, to William Sloan Bradford and St. Lo Hale Andrews. He is survived by his son, Moffatt D. Bradford Jr. daughter, Meredith Bradford half sister, Olive Elizabeth Bradford. He was predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Jean Wolling Bradford, his parents, stepmothers, Elizabeth DaCosta Bradford and Maude Forsythe Bradford, brother, William S. Bradford, twin sister, Eoline B Hamburger, half brother, Edwin DaCosta Bradford. Dupre graduated from Dreher High School in 1944, entered the Enlisted Reserve Corps as a private June 21, 1944, served as chief clerk, I Corps Chemical section in Kyoto, Japan, until April 1947. Remained in the Reserve and received a direct commission as second lieutenant ORC in March 1949, and graduated from The Citadel, 1951. Called to active duty August 1951 and was assigned to the 18th Infantry First Division in Aschaffenburg, Germany, until November 1953. He remained in the Reserve until retirement, March 1977, serving as director on the 108th Division Leadership Academy. He retired, after 29 years as a supervisor of Corporation Income Tax Audit, from the S.C. Tax Commission in 1988. He was the administrator for the 1940-49 Dreher Alumni monthly luncheon, a life member of the Reserve Officers Association, a perpetual member and past region, state and chapter commander of the Military Order of the World Wars, a member and president of American Legion Post #6 Foundation, a member of the MOAA and AUSA, and a member of the Columbia Oyster Club and American Wine Society.
