Michael Jerry Fowler, 58, of 107 Waddell Road, died Nov. 29, 2005. Born in Laurens, he was the son of the late Haskell Lee and Ruth Louise Kirby Fowler. Mr. Fowler was a 1973 graduate of The Citadel, was associated with Cryovac for 23 years and was currently the Southeastern sales manager for Intertape Polymer Group. He was a Vietnam veteran, serving in the U.S. Army 4th Infantry. For the past 10 years, he delivered Thanksgiving meals to shut-ins. Surviving are a daughter, Kimberly Fowler Whelan of Birmingham, Ala.; two sons, Jason Michael Fowler of Duncan, and Jordan Scott Fowler of Columbia; a sister, Veronica Zaman of Chicago; and a grandson, Jacob Matthew Fowler. A memorial service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at The Mackey Mortuary, Century Drive, with the Rev. Dr. J. Floyd Parker officiating. The family will receive friends Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the mortuary. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the University of Alabama at Birmingham Pediatric Hematology and Oncology Research Fund, ACC Suite 512, 1600 Seventh Ave. S., Birmingham, AL 35233, in honor of Michael Fowler.
