Mack Lee Gibson, Jr., 82, of Huntersville, NC, passed away on January 24, 2016, in Huntersville, NC. He was born on May 5, 1933, to the late Mack Lee Gibson and Mary Hicks Gibson. Star quarterback, ace student and voted best looking, Mack graduated from Chesnee High School in 1951. Upon graduating from the Citadel in 1955 he began his illustrious service career. He served in Vietnam with his beloved Seahorse buddies, served as a battalion commander in Germany, and conducted military intelligence for the Pentagon and Air Force One. 28 dedicated, dutiful and decorated years later, he ended his military career as Defense Attache in Germany, moving on to a successful and colorful career working in Europe for Bell Helicopter. Mack made friends wherever he went. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Gary and Hal; and sister, Kate. Mack is survived by his loving wife, Rita Gibson; daughter, Catherine Float and her husband Thomas; son, Robert S. Gibson; son, John A. Gibson and his wife Beth; grandchildren, Georgia K. Gibson and Mack Adam Gibson. He is also survived by several relatives and friends from across the globe. A visitation will be held from 6 – 7 pm on Friday, January 29, 2016, at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home, Huntersville, NC. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 30, 2016, at Huntersville United Methodist, 14005 Stumptown Rd., Huntersville, NC.
