Lloyd W. Fitzgerald, Jr., of University Place, Wash., died Dec. 30, 2016. LTC Lloyd W. Fitzgerald, Jr. USAF (Ret.) TACOMA, WA – Lloyd, age 73, passed into the arms of his heavenly father, on December 30, 2016 at St. Joseph Hospital, Tacoma, WA, with his wife and stepchildren by his side. He was born to Lloyd Wilson and Louise (Rose) Fitzgerald on September 2, 1943 in Charleston, South Carolina. He grew up in Charleston, graduating from Porter Military Academy and The Citadel. He served in the US Air Force from 1967-1971. He then joined the Air Force Reserves, serving his country until 1993. Lloyd also worked at Belks Department Stores, Life Cycle Engineering, and retired from the S.C Job Service. He belonged to the Exchange Club of Charleston and the German Friendly Society in Charleston. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Connie. He is survived by his loving wife, Bess; children, Jeffry L. Fitzgerald (Nekola), Nicole S. Wood (Jay), Shawn McClatchey (Kaori), and Ashley Kraft (Zane); and dearly loved grandchildren, Kai McClatchey and Kiley Kraft. Also survived by his cousin, Peggy Barnhardt and niece, Sarah Lange. A celebration of life will be held at 1:00pm on February 18, 2017 at Oasis Church at Lakewood, 7912 Lakewood Dr., Lakewood, WA 98499. A family only grave side service will be held at a separate time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Citadel Foundation, McAlister Field House, 171 Moultrie Street, Charleston, SC 29409, or the Pierce County Humane Society.
