Lindsey Hodge Penn (affectionately known as “Sixtwo”) of Summerville, passed away peacefully on April 21, 2026 surrounded by her family at the age of 44. Lindsey was born on October 6, 1981 in Raleigh, NC, a daughter of Donald R. and Katherine P. Hodge of Summerville, SC.
Lindsey and her family moved to Summerville in 1996 and she began attending Summerville High School. She played basketball and volleyball for SHS earning All Region and playing in All State games throughout her high school for both basketball and volleyball. She was recruited by several colleges,but the challenge of The Citadel Military College won her over. She played volleyball all four years and graduated in 2004. She was the first woman from Summerville to attend and graduate from the Citadel, marking a historic milestone as one of the first 60 women to ever be in the Corp of Cadets. During her senior season at the Citadel, she was ranked 4th Nationally in NCAA Division 1 Volleyball service aces. She holds the volleyball record for most aces served at the Citadel. She later returned to volleyball coaching B team volleyball at SHS. Lindsey was inducted into the Summerville Hall of Fame in 2022.
After graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree, She joined Dorchester County EMS and soon became a Paramedic and Crew Chief. It was there she met her best friend and love of her life, Billy Penn. Together they built a life of service, love and dedication to the community and each other. They often worked out together, competed in firefighter challenges together as a team and sometimes traveling for competitions.
She valued her loved ones, even while facing her own challenges, she stayed deeply connected to those around her, leaving a lasting mark on her family and the community she served alongside her husband.
Lindsey is survived by her loving husband William (Billy) Penn, their children, Ava, Morgan and Divinity. Her parents, Don and Kathy Hodge, a sister Katie Hodge Myers, a brother in law Jay Myers, Mother in law Lessie Penn, father in law William Penn and step mother in law Donna. Numerous Aunts, Uncles, and cousins who will forever hold her memory close.
Celebration of life service will be on May 3, 2026 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Dorchester Boat Club 148 Old Dorchester Trail, Dorchester Trail, Summerville, SC 29485. If possible, please wear purple, as that was Lindsey’s favorite color.
