Funeral service for Lewis Elton Fellers, 86, will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, July 23, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church with Rev. Dr. Larry Long and Rev. Kathy Chartier officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive visitors at the church beginning at 10 a.m. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is assisting the family. Mr. Fellers, husband of Betty Kammerer Fellers, died Monday, July 20, 2009, in Palmetto Baptist Medical Center. Born July 8, 1923, in Newberry County, near Silverstreet, he was a son of the late Howell C. and Mamye Cromer Fellers. Mr. Fellers was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and its Lutheran Men and Fellowship Sunday School Class. A 1950 graduate of The Citadel, he served throughout WWII in the Navy. When the war started, he was stationed at the naval air station, Miami, and when it ended he was at the naval air station in Pearl Harbor. He was a long-time member of Columbia Civitan Club and had retired as the South Carolina representative of Masonite Corp. Mr. Fellers is survived by his wife of 58 years, of the home; son, William E. and wife, Lou Anne, of Mt. Pleasant; daughter, Joan, and her husband, Larry Lamb, of Garner, N.C.; grandchildren, Sarah and Hannah Fellers, Jason and Christine Lamb; half brother, Julian “Bud” Fellers of Greer; sister-in-law, Lurlee Fellers of Columbia. He was predeceased by his sister, Marian Robelot of Charlotte and brothers, Everett and Ralph Fellers of Columbia, Charles Fellers of Charlotte.
