Leonard “Len” A. Obohoski, Sr., age 77 of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 18, 2014 with his children at his side.
Len was born in Wilkes-Barre, PA on October 26, 1937. He grew up in Bound Brook, NJ and graduated from St. Peter’s High School in New Brunswick, NJ. Following graduation, he attended The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina, and was a member of the Summerall Guards silent precision drill platoon that demonstrated The Citadel ideals of honor, integrity, loyalty, leadership, self-discipline and patriotism. Graduating with the “L” Company in 1959, Len then served as a Captain in the United States Air Force, navigating B52s during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He settled with his family in North Wilmington, DE, raising his three children with his wife, Anne. During this time, Len was a member of Holy Child Parish and sang in the choir. Len worked for several companies in the Wilmington area, and finally retired from Thomas Jefferson University Hospital as an industrial engineer.
Len is survived by his three children, Leonard, Jr. of Wilmington, Stephen of Rehoboth Beach and Vitamarie of Wilmington; his two grandchildren, Andrew and Madelyn Biddle; and his brother, Robert of Tennessee.
A Catholic Service will be held in the chapel of Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear on Tuesday, December 30 at 10:00AM.
