Lee Ray Moody, husband of Elizabeth “Betsy” Bennett Moody, died Sunday at Colleton Medical Center. He was 73. Mr. Moody was born February 19, 1940 in Lake City, a son of the late Walter S. Moody and Lela Covington Moody. He graduated from The Citadel in 1964, and the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1967. He was a well-known attorney, having practiced law in Walterboro from 1967 – 1999. He was an avid golfer, and enjoyed deepwater fishing, and spending time at Edisto Beach. Lee Ray was a devoted family man, and the light of his life was his children and grandchildren. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are his children: Scott Moody and wife Lynn, of Charlotte, NC, and Kim Rencken and husband Gunther of Walterboro. He has a brother, William H. Moody and wife Rebecca, of Dillon, and a sister, Laura E. Moody of Charleston. He leaves behind his mother-in-law, Evelyn Bennett of Walterboro, and four grandchildren: Lee, Elizabeth, Marshall and Lauren. Lee Ray was preceded in death by two brothers, Walter Lide Moody and John Fleetwood Moody. Funeral services for Mr. Moody will be held privately, and in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to MUSC Heart Transplant Center.
