Lee Clark Detenbeck, 79, of Horseshoe Bay, Texas unexpectedly passed away on February 13, 2020.
Lee was born on February 24, 1940 to Earl and Virginia Detenbeck in Fort Erie, Ontario, Canada. At a young age, with his family, Lee moved to Houston, Texas. After graduating from The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina in 1961 he went on to study medicine at The University of Texas, Galveston, graduating in 1964. He also trained at the Mayo Clinic Rochester. As a man who loved to learn, he continued his education and graduated from law school from the South Texas College of Law in 1978.
After medical school graduation, internships and residency, he had a successful career as a board-certified orthopedic surgeon where he spent many years in private practice in Houston, Texas. Lee finally retired from being a full-time surgeon at the age of 55.
In the 1990’s Lee met Kerstin, and they wed shortly after. They spent a blissful 30 years together showing the world what true love could be.
Prior to this, Lee was married and had two children, Tyler and Susan.
After retiring in 1995, Lee spent his time with his wife cooking, enjoying wine, a jacuzzi soak every Sunday, golfing, playing cards (gin rummy), and spending time with family and friends.
Lee is predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Kerstin; his sister Pat (Jim) McLaughlin; his two children, Tyler (Kellee) Detenbeck and Susan (Ken) Hostetter; his grandchildren, Lauren Perham, Hailey Detenbeck, Zachary Detenbeck and Braylon Detenbeck; and his beloved dog, Annika and his tolerated cat, Watson.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, February 24, 2020 at The Church of Horseshoe Bay with Senior-Pastor Malcolm McQueen officiating. An online guest registry may be signed at www.PutnamCares.com
