Dr. Larry Mendel Kowalski, 80, of Anderson, passed away Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at AnMed Health.
Born April 6, 1938 in Anderson, he was the son of the late Paul and Margaret Mitchell Kowalski. He was a Colonel in the U.S Army Medical Service Corp. Larry was a graduate of The Citadel and received his doctoral degree from University of Georgia. He later taught as a science specialist at Tri County Technical College, Project Challenge, Anderson Adult Education, Montessori School of Anderson, Midway Elementary and Anderson University.
Surviving are his lifelong friend, Chris Ringer; daughter, Mary Margaret Gregg of Canton, GA; son, John Charles Hetrick of Greenville; daughter, Camille H. Wolfe of Spartanburg and eleven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Peggy Shall and brother, Dr. Randolph Kowalski.
Funeral service will be held at 2pm Monday (Feb. 4) at Sullivan-King Mortuary with Dr. John McCallum officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the Mortuary, 3205 N. Hwy 81. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Midway Elementary School, 1221 Harriett Circle, Anderson, SC 29621.
