DODD Larry Avera Dodd, 70, of Jacksonville, died February 25, 2004 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Atlanta, Georgia on September 22, 1933 to the late Lonnie and Elizabeth Cannon Dodd. He graduated from The Citadel in 1958. He served his country in the U. S. Navy from 1951-1954 during the Korean Conflict. On December 20, 1957 he was united in marriage to Ann Amelia Britton in Charleston, SC. He was a member of St. Elizabeth’s Episcopal Church in Jacksonville. Mr. Dodd was retired from the Center of Disease Control (CDC) – Immunization Branch as a Public Health Advisor. He enjoyed the job-related travels that took him to many Third World countries. In addition to his career job, he directed many public health projects for the United Nations in Kenya and Sudan and for the Carter Center-Global 2000 in Ghena and Uganda. Mr. Dodd is survived by his wife, Ann; his sons and their wives, Kenneth and Judy Dodd of Darien, GA. and Thomas and Connie, their children, Jessica, Rebecca, Evan and Caroline Dodd of Jacksonville and his brother, Gary Dodd of Asheville, NC. Memorial services will be at St. Elizabeth’s Episcopal Church, 1735 Leonid Road in Jacksonville.
