Louis Bates Folley Jr., 62, of Augusta, Ga., husband of Martha Nelson Folley, entered into rest Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2009. Mr. Folley was a native of Sumter, but had been a resident of Augusta for 37 years. He was a 1969 graduate of The Citadel. Mr. Folley served in the U.S. Air Force until moving to Augusta in 1973. He began working as the fixed operations manager at Sunbelt Nissan and later became co-owner. He was a member of many civic organizations and an avid sportsman. Mr. Folley was a deacon of Christ Church, Presbyterian and a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. Family members in addition to his wife include his two daughters, Paige Folley Christian and her husband, Joe David, of Savannah, Ga., and Victoria Folley Hulsebus and her husband, Tyson Ashby, of Augusta; a son, Todd Bates Folley and wife, Lindsey Cunningham, of Augusta; a brother, John Arthur Folley and wife, Cindy Amerson, of Mount Pleasant; two grandchildren, Joe David Christian IV and May Bates Christian; and a nephew, John Arthur Folley Jr. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Christ Church, Presbyterian, Evans, Ga., with Dr. Duncan Rankin officiating. Pallbearers will be deacons of Christ Church. Burial will be at 4 p.m. Saturday in the Sumter Cemetery with the Rev. Gordon Reed officiating.
