Kevin Alexander Burr, was born July 3, 1964, in Columbia, SC, and died at the age of 44, December 14, 2008, in Jacksonville, FL. Kevin was the son of Luther Vester Burr and the late Delores Lemmons Burr. He is survived by his wife, Cylena Burr and her two children, Trenady Stiles and Zachary Stiles, his father, L.V. Burr, his stepmother, Peggy Burr, his youngest brother, Wayne M. Burr, MD, and his sister-in-law, Kathy Burr, his niece, Elizabeth Ann Burr and his nephews, Michael Burr, Jr., Nicholas Burr and Garrett Burr, stepbrother, Wayne Williams, and stepsister, Melissa Williams. Kevin was athletic in his youth – playing little league baseball and football in Cayce, SC, and being selected to All Stars on more than one occasion. He continued his love of sports throughout high school – being a successful tailback for the Danville Ironmen football team in Danville, PA, along with running track in the 4×100 relay. Although he completed most of his high school curriculum in Pennsylvania, he ultimately graduated from Brookland-Cayce high school in 1981. His career in football continued into college where he played for The Citadel Bulldogs until an injury permanently ended his football playing days. Never wanting to give up his love of sports, Kevin involved himself in other activities such as golf and fishing. While living in Charleston, SC, he frequently would fish for king mackerel and often entered Southern Kingfish Association tournaments. When he moved away from Charleston to pursue his career, he was never able to return to fishing as he once did, but did speak of fishing often. He was able to focus his free time on automotive work which included car restoration. For the last 15 years, Kevin worked for Con-way Freight in various capacities. He started as an account executive in Charleston, SC, and his last position was as the Service Center manager in Jacksonville, FL. Anyone who has worked with Kevin would say that he wore many hats, and he would pitch in to do any job that was needed. His love of Cylena was celebrated in marriage July 12, 2008, in Fort Worth, TX. That love was shared with CylenaÆs children, Trenady and Zachary (and stray animals in the neighborhood). God had other plans for Kevin, and these plans only allowed a short time with his new family. The family will receive guests at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington on Thursday, December 18, 2008, from 6 to 8 p.m. Services will be held at State Street Baptist Church on Friday, December 19, 2008, at 11 a.m. with interment to follow in Woodridge Memorial Park. Officiating will be Rev. Tommy Pillow and Rev. Dr. Pete Cassidy. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society of the United States, 2100 L Street, NW, Washington, DC 20037. He was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Luther Burr. Tags: 1986
