WELCH, Kenneth Entered into eternal rest on Monday, September 29, 2003, Kenneth Stanton Welch. He was born on Wednesday, September 1, 1926 in Charlotte, NC, a son of Carl Whitby and Beatrice Brunnermer Welch. His younger years were spent living in Charlotte and Gastonia, NA with stop offs in W. Columbia and Pensacola, FL. He moved to Charleston in 1942 and graduated from the High School of Charleston in 1944. After several years in the banking business on Broad Street, he was drafted into the US Army and served in the Finance Department of the 3rd Infantry Division in Seoul, Korea. Upon returning home, he enrolled in the Citadel and was elected to the Veterans Council, the Ring and Invitations Committee, the Economic Honor Society, the Citadel Honor Society and Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities. He graduated in the class of 1957. As owner of Ashley Florist, he served as President of the Coastal Carolina Florist Association and as President of the SC Florist Association. A member of the Rotary Club of St. Andrews, he served as Director, Secretary, Treasurer, and President and was awarded a Paul Harris Fellowship. He achieved the feat of 40 years of perfect attendance. Mr. Welch was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer. Active pall bearers will be Citadel Baseball Team players. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Citadel class of 1957. The relatives and friends of Mr. Kenneth S. Welch are invited to attend his Funeral Service at 3 PM, Wednesday, October 1, 2003 at the Summerall Chapel, Citadel Campus. Entombment will be at Magnolia Cemetery. Friends may call at the JAMES A.
