Rev. Julian Parks Griffin, of Burlington, NC, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 4, 2018.
He was the oldest son of the late William Samuel Griffin and Thelma Blackmon Griffin. He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Becky Bailey Griffin, his daughter, Kathryn Griffin Tucker, his son Jonathan David Griffin, and his grandson, Brian Hope.
He is survived by his wife Betty Morin-Griffin, his daughters, Patricia Griffin Hope (husband Frank) of Burlington, Rebecca Griffin Jones (husband Steve) of Raleigh, NC, son-in-law, William Tucker of Jamestown, nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, one brother William Larry Griffin (wife Mary Jane) of Burlington and one sister Mary Jane Gillespie, also of Burlington.Rev. Griffin was an active lifetime Rotarian, a Paul Harris Fellow, a major donor to the Rotary
Foundation, a past District Governor, and currently active in the Rotary Club of Alamance. He was Pastor Emeritus of Chestnut Level Baptist Church in Blairs, Virginia, and served in multiple interim pastorates in North Carolina and Virginia.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Monday, January 8, 2018 at 1 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Burlington, conducted by Rev. Marcus Stewart and Dr. Terry Peele.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the Gathering Place at First Baptist Church of Burlington.
Memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
