Julian M. Sellers, 76, of Columbia, died Monday, October 16, 2017. Born February 1, 1941 in Orangeburg, he was a son of the late Willie Ray Sellers and Sylvia Drake Sellers. Julian graduated from Citadel Military College in 1963 and while there was a member of N Company and the elite Summerall Guards. After receiving his commission as a 1 st Lieutenant in the US Air Force from President John F .Kennedy in 1963, he trained as a pilot and was assigned to the new prestigious Commando unit for special warfare training. While serving two tours in Viet Nam, he flew 238 combat sorties and received the second highest honor for a military person can receive, the Distinguished Flying Cross. After serving in the Pentagon in the office of special Air Warfare, he left with an Honorable Discharge to attend law school at the University of South Carolina. He became a member of the South Carolina Bar and opened a general practice law office serving the people in the area. He was known as a people’s lawyer with exceptional trial skills securing many noteworthy verdicts in favor of his clients. While at a trial seminar in San Francisco in 1978. Julian met a trial lawyer based on the West Coast, Julia Cline. They never lost touch or sight of each other and were happily married in 2005 and enjoyed their life living in Columbia and working in Frankfurt, Germany. As a result of the marriage, Julian enjoyed a new found family and many friends. Julian is survived by his beautiful and loving wife, Julia Lea Cline-Sellers.
