Julian Carr Shaw, 77, of Pflugerville, Texas, passed away May 1, 2012, surrounded by his loving family. “Sweet Julian,” as he was so affectionately known by many, was born on August 7, 1934, in Savannah, Georgia to Dr. Loundes Walton Shaw and Mildred Carr Shaw. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Richard Carr Shaw. Having been raised on the salt water, Julian was an avid sailor and was the youngest member to join the Savannah Yacht and Country Club. In 1957, he graduated from The Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina, with a degree in Civil Engineering. After marrying Barbara Randall Carter of Savannah on September 7, 1957, they moved to Atlanta where he had a long and successful career selling water waste treatment plants. In 1999, retiring as a Professional Engineer and President of Shaw Southern Sales, he and Barbara moved to Galveston to be near family and again, the salt water. Julian had a wonderful sense of humor, loved traveling, good food and good friends. He was an exceptional cook and was very proud of a cook book which he published containing his favorite recipes. Julian is survived by his wife, Barbara Carter Shaw; daughter, Catherine Shaw Riley; son-in-law, Philip M. Riley, Jr.; granddaughter, Sarah Carter Riley; his adoring puppy son, Jack; two nieces and numerous friends. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, May 11, 2012 at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 11201 Parkfield Drive, Austin, Texas. Tags: 1957
