Dr. Joseph Richardson, 82, of Kinnelon, NJ died Saturday, July 27, 2019. Joe was born in Louisville, KY. He had a B.S. in civil engineering from The Citadel, a B.A. in Zoology from Rutgers University, a M.S. in Anatomy from NY Medical College, and a PhD in Zoology from Rutgers University. He received a graduate certificate in work life ministry from Seton Hall University. He served 10 years active duty with the Army serving in Germany, Vietnam and various stateside locations. After returning to civilian life, he continued to serve in the NJ National Guard. He worked several jobs in NJ before serving as a Professor and as Director of Campus Planning at Ramapo College. After retiring from Ramapo College, he established Whitehall Associates Inc. Working on his business and preparing demographic studies for NJ school districts became his passion for 32 years. He also served as a Deacon for Our Lady of Magnificat in Kinnelon and Our Lady of Mt. Carmel in Boonton. Joe had many titles: Doctor, Major, Deacon, but his most cherished was “Papa Joe”. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Irene (nee Murphy); his children, Pamela Reynolds, Chip and his wife Sandy, Jack and his wife Jennifer, and Karen Pascucci and her husband John; his 10 grandchildren, Beth, Nikki, John, Joey, Ethan, Michaela, Michael, Matthew, Katelyn and Charley Marie; his great-grandchildren, Roy, Ben and Brielle; and his cat Buddy. Calling hours will be 4 pm to 8 pm on Friday, August 2, 2019 at Our Lady of the Magnificat RC Church, Kinnelon. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 am on Saturday, August 3, 2019 at Our Lady of the Magnificat. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
