Lt. Col. Johnny Sumner Robinson Sr. CLOVER – Lt. Col. Johnny Sumner Robinson Sr., USA (Ret.), age 65, of 1745 Highway 161, York, SC, died April 2, 2005, in Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, Winston-Salem, NC. He was born June 23, 1939, in York County, SC, to the late Ike Frazier Robinson and the late Jennie Mae Garrison Robinson. A Clover, SC, native, The Citadel, Class ’63, he served in SCNG and 24 years in the U.S. Army, Armor. His last duty station was Professor of Military Science at USC. He settled in York, SC, as a peach farmer and a teacher in NC Gaston County Schools. Survivors are: wife, Mary Black Robinson of the home; sons, Johnny S. Robinson, Jr., Clover, SC, Jeffrey D. Robinson, Charlotte, NC, Douglas M. Robinson, Clover, SC; sister, Jo Anne Robinson Graham, Charlotte, NC; grandchildren, Brittney, Sumner, Frances-Ann, and David Robinson. Funeral service will be 12:00 noon Saturday, April 9, 2005, at Kings Mountain Chapel United Methodist Church, York, SC, conducted by the Rev. Robert Reeves. Interment will be in the Church Cemetery with full Military Honors. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 Friday night at M.L. Ford & Sons Funeral Home.
