John Townsend Stevens III, known as “JT” to his friends, of Panama City Beach, Fla., born in Dayton, Ohio, has gone to be with his savior. He was the son of John Stevens Jr. and Mary Elizabeth Stevens from Edisto Island, South Carolina. He is survived by his children, Danielle Stevens, AnaBelle Stevens-Sanchez, Rachelle, Nicole, and James LaBonte; grandchildren, Hunter and Remy Lopez, Thomas and Carmen Hernandez, Lily LaBonte, Tristan Menchaca, Kayden and Elliot Pruitt, Skylar Cougot, Jett Townsend Sanchez and Jensen Sanchez. John was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Elizabeth Stevens, formerly of Bennettsville, South Carolina. John graduated from The Citadel Military College in 1986 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He retired after 20 years of service as a Major with the US Air Force. After his military career, he was employed by Bell Helicopter Textron Inc. At the time of his death, John was employed for ERC, Inc., at Eglin AFB, Fla. MEMORIAL SERVICE: American Legion Memorial Services for Major Stevens will be held at Post 356, located in the Azle Chamber of Commerce Building, 404 West Main St., Azle, Texas, from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, January 19, 2019.
