John Peter Pete Richardson, Jr., son of the late John Peter and Dorothy Carrigan Richardson, died Wednesday, February 22, 2006, in Palmetto Baptist Hospital in Columbia. Born October 29, 1945, Mr. Richardson was a lifelong resident of Clarendon County. Upon graduating from The Citadel, he was self-employed as owner of Carrigan Insurance Agency in Summerton. Mr. Richardson served Summerton for many years as town councilman and police commissioner, and was active in civic organizations. Mr. Richardson served as president of the Summerton Lion’s Club and the Thoroughbred Association. He served with distinction as a Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps. Mr. Richardson was a member of St. Matthias Episcopal Church. Surviving are his wife, Jane Richardson; a daughter, Burgess Richardson of Summerton; and a sister, Dorothy Richardson Murray of St. George. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday at St. Marks Episcopal Church with the Rev. David W.T. Thurlow officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. Thursday evening at Stephens Funeral Home in Manning. Memorials may be made to St. Matthias Episcopal Church, P.O.
