John Norman Alexander, 71, of Key West, Fla., passed away at his home after losing a battle to Alzheimer’s on Monday, Nov. 8, 2010. He was born in Miami, Fla., on Dec. 16, 1938. John graduated college from the Citadel in Charleston, S.C., class of 1960. He also was the first boy to have graduated from Mary Immaculate in Key West, class of 1956. He was preceded in death by his parents, Auster “Al” and Margret Alexander of Key West; and sister-in-law, Lilly Alexander of Albuquerque, N.M. He is survived by his spouse, Aleida Alexander; and their son, Norman Vincent of Key West; his brother, James A. Alexander of Albuquerque; and, from his previous marriage with Dorothy Sue Alexander, their three daughters, Pamela S. Buchanan of Miami, Karen Hill of Zephyrhills, Fla., and Tonya L. Alexander of Miami; his four grandchildren, Michelle, 12, Zachary, 6, Jacob, 5, and Matthew, 2. John was a son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. He is loved by all and will be deeply missed. There will be no viewing. He was cremated on Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2010. A service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 15, 2010, in the garden at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 401 Duval St., Key West, FL 33040. Tags: 1960
