McCRADY, JR., John John McCrady, Jr., civil engineer and civic leader, died at his residence on the morning of Thursday July 19, 2007. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. John McCrady, Jr. are invited to attend the funeral service of the former Saturday, July 21, 2007 at eleven o’clock in St. Philip’s Episcopal Church. Interment, Churchyard. Following the service, friends may call at 35 Meeting Street. Mr. McCrady, Jr. was born November 17, 1921 in Charleston, SC, the son of John McCrady and Madge Pinckney Hall McCrady. He was a 1943 graduate of The Citadel and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member and past president of the Historic Charleston Foundation, The Charleston Club, Roper Hospital Board, Member of The South Carolina Society, The Society of the Cincinnati and was Past Commodore of the Carolina Yacht Club. Mr. McCrady, Jr. was co-founder and past-president of Cummings and McCrady Architects and Engineers. He is survived by his wife Charlotte Lide McCrady of Charleston, SC; two daughters: Charlotte M. Williams and her husband Peter M. Williams of Charleston, SC, and Madge M. Hallett and her husband James W.G. Hallett of Columbia, SC; one sister: Mrs. J. Howard Yates of Charleston, SC; five grandchildren: Peter, John and Charlotte Williams, Ben and Robert Hallett. He was predeceased by his sister, Mrs. William J. Henning. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Mrs. Lottie Brown, Mrs. Patrice McCormick, Mrs. Lillie Joyner, Mrs. Pauline Stanley, Mrs. Rebecca Venning and Mrs. Carolyn Macon for their loving care and support.
