John L. Webster, 87, died on April 22nd, 2009 in Pelican Bay, FL. Born on April 21, 1922 in Aibonto Puerto Rico, the son of the late John L. Webster and Ana Nielson. Mr. Webster spent his formative years in Puerto Rico while his father was stationed as a U.S. Naval Officer. He and his wife Helen Webster were married in 1955 and raised their family as long time residents of Annandale and McLean, VA . They have resided in Pelican Bay since 1991. He was a decorated WW II Army Air Corp aviator who flew 35 combat missions in the B-24 as a member of the 736th Bomber Group, Foggia, Italy. In 1944 he was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds received in an aerial bombardment mission over France. John is a graduate of The Citadel in Charleston S.C. and retired from HQ Naval Air Systems Command in 1982. He is survived by his wife of 54 years; his son John L. Webster Jr. of Falls Church, VA, his daughter, Joanne Bonar of Weddington, N.C.; and 5 grandchildren. John L. Webster Sr. will be buried at Arlington Memorial Cemetery with military honors on Friday June 26th at 2:00 PM.
