John Keith Gourdin, IV, of Walnut Way, Pineville, SC, a retired electronics engineer at the Charleston Naval Shipyard, died Sunday at his residence. The funeral will be at 11:30 AM Tuesday morning, December 31, 2002 in the CHAPEL OF DIAL-MURRAY FUNERAL HOME, MONCKS CORNER. Interment will be in the St. Stephen Episcopal Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, 5900 Core Road, Suite 504, North Charleston, SC 29406. Mr. Gourdin was born March 2, 1926 in Charleston, a son of John Keith Gourdin, III and Irene Delphia Schmidt Gourdin. He was a member of the Unitarian Church, Charleston. He was a graduate of St. Stephen Schools and a 1950 graduate of The Citadel. Mr. Gourdin was formerly married to the late Barbara Ann Edmondson and the late Patricia O. Graham. Surviving are, his wife, Margaret Presslinger Gourdin; two daughters, Ann Gourdin Babich and her husband, Gene, of Bonneau Beach, and Ann Margaret Thompkins and her husband, Thom, of Atlanta, GA; four sons, John K. Johnny Gourdin, V and his wife, Carol, of Mt. Pleasant, Gene Hood and his wife, Brenda, of Beaufort, Harry Hood and his wife, Martha, of Givhans and Glenn Hughes and his wife, Gail, of Mt. Pleasant; nine grandchildren, Renee Caddell, Heidi Butler, Allyson Wood, Heath Hood, Devon Herrington, J.K. Gourdin, VI, Ellis Gourdin, Mike Babich, and Shawn Bacote; and five great-grandchildren, Casey Caddell, Connor Butler, Taylor Wood, Madison Bacote, and Ethan Bacote.
