John Edward Spearman, Sr., 87, of Summerville, husband of Dolores Armstrong Spearman, passed away on Monday, September 3, 2012 at The Bridge Assisted Living. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 8, 2012 at 1 o’clock PM at James A. Dyal Funeral Home, 303 South Main Street, Summerville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Citadel, Brigadier Club, 171 Moultrie Street, Charleston, SC 29409. Mr. Spearman was born on March 6, 1925 in Plattsburg, NY, son of the late George and Mary Swain Spearman. He attended The Citadel and received a Civil Engineering degree from NC State. He loved fishing, hunting and playing golf. He was in the United States Army and was a member of Summerville Presbyterian Church. Surviving in addition to his wife are: Six Sons and One Daughter: John E. Spearman, Jr., Ret. Col., US Army, of Lane, SC, Robert G. Spearman of Mt. Pleasant, SC, William L. Spearman, MD of Beaufort, SC, James D. Spearman, MD of Summerville, SC, Thomas F. Spearman of Bentonville, AR, Maridee Spearman McClaws, MD of Hendersonville, SC and Anthony C. Spearman of Moncks Corner, SC; 16 Grandchildren; Four Great Grandchildren; One Sister: Catherine McKim of Wilmington, NC; Two Nephews and One Niece.
