John D. Sullivan Sr. 86, husband of Marie Byrd Sullivan, of Mt. Pleasant, SC, died December 6, 2013 at Hospice of Charleston after a sudden illness. John was born in Pelham, NY on October 7, 1927. He was a Navy Veteran and a 1951 Graduate of The Citadel. His lifetime work was in the beverage industry in South Carolina. He retired from Pearlstine Distributors in 1992 where he was the Executive Vice President. He was a former member of the South Carolina Beer Assocaition, Elks Club and the Knights of Columbus. John was an avid golfer. He made his first hole-in-one at age 75 and shot his age at 78. He also traveled extensively in Europe and points everywhere in the U.S.. He is preceded in death by his first wife Rosemary Ward Sullivan, his parents Leo S. Sullivan and Margaret H. Sullivan, brothers Leo, Eddie and Arthur and grandson John D. (Donnie) Sullivan III. John is survived by his wife, Marie Byrd Sullivan, sons John D. Sullivan Jr., Lt. Col. David L. Sullivan Sr. (Angie), daughters Peggy S. Bull (Mike), Maureen S. Bolchoz (Col. Manning), stepson Richard Byrd (Jennie), sister Margaret S. Burke, brother James F. Sullivan (Lola), Grandchildren Christopher M. Sullivan (Kerry), John M. Bolchoz Jr. (Sarah), Ryan D. Bolchoz (Becca), Patrick M. Bolchoz, Steven B. Sullivan (Allison), David L. Sullivan Jr., Lauren A. Sullivan and step-grand Jericka Byrd, 5 Great-Grandchildren-Kasey, Prestin, Kaden, Ethan, Aubrey and # 6 on the way and nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends. Memorial Mass will be held on Friday December 13, 2013 at 1030 a.m. at Christ Our King Catholic Church, 1123 Russell Drive, Mt. Pleasant, SC. Internment will be immediately following at Mt. Pleasant Memorial Gardens, 1308 Mathis Ferry Road. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Beach House at Christ Our King, a Senior and Youth Center.
