Former Fort Bliss commander John “Jack” Costello died Monday at the age of 63 of pancreatic cancer. He is survived by his wife, Michele, and two children. Costello served at Fort Bliss several times throughout his nearly 32-year career in the Army and commanded the post from 1995 to 1998. He retired at the rank of lieutenant general in 2002 after leading the Army’s Space and Missile Defense Command. Tags: 1969
