John Butler Milling, Jr., age 84, of Wedgefield, beloved husband of 44 years to Mary Ozug Milling, passed away on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at his home.
John was born in Greenwood, SC, a son of the late John Butler Milling, Sr., and the late Nanette Currie. John graduated from the Citadel in 1963. He honorably served his country for more than 20 years as an engineer in the United States Air Force, earning a Bronze Star for his dedication and service. After retiring from the Air Force, he continued his work as a civil engineer for another two decades. He had a passion for fast cars, especially Porsches, and loved sharing that enthusiasm with others. John will be remembered as a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. His legacy lives on in the hearts of all who loved him
In addition to his wife, John leaves behind his son, Dominus “D” Trent Rivera of Wedgefield, SC; his daughter, Amy Bridget Milling, and her husband, Rob Kiess of Colorado Springs, CO; his adopted daughter, Cindy Barnes of Grovetown, GA, his sisters, Gail Gore of McCormick, SC, and Cindy Jackson of Newberry, SC, and three adopted grandchildren, Jessica Barnes, Cody Barnes, and Alyssa Barnes.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Michael Milling, and his brother, Brooks Milling.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at 11:00 am in the Bullock Funeral Home Chapel with Father Michael Ridgell officiating.
