Mr. Jesse Thomas Hunter Jr., 80, died Saturday, December 17, 2005 at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday at Forbis and Dick Guilford Chapel. Mr. Hunter had lived in Greensboro since 1949 and was the owner of Starr-Davis Company, Inc. He was a past-president of Starmount Forest Country Club, past-president of Southeastern Insulation Contractors Association past-president of the National Insulation Contractors Association. He was a graduate of The Citadel in the famous class of 1942. He served on the Board of Trustees for Lees McRae College and served as an advisor to many Federal agencies concerning energy and conservation. He was a Rotarian, a member of the Greensboro Jaycees, and a member of the YBM (Young Business Men). He was a veteran of World War II and served in the African/Italian Campaign where he received two purple hearts. He is survived by his wife, Johnnye Hobbs Hunter of the home one daughter, Star Hunter Kepner and husband Jim of Sumter, S.C. one son, Tommy Hunter and wife Trina of Greensboro step-children, Toni McGowan and husband Donnie of Dunwoody, Ga. Johnnye Letterman of Greensboro Waban Carter of Greensboro Scott Greer of Orlando, Fla. and Melissa Greer of Greensboro three brothers, Eugene and wife Barbara Hunter of Gastonia Reid and wife Martha Hunter of Sea Island, Ga. and David and wife Sue Hunter of Charlotte eight grandchildren, Crystal, Misty, April, Spring, Jess, Don, James and Jacob three great-grandchildren, John Lee, Hunter Anne and Owen. He was pre-deceased by his first wife, Marian Davis Hunter, his mother, Eva House Hunter and his father, Jesse Thomas Hunter, and a sister, Maybeth Johnston. The family will receive friends following the service at Forbis and Dick Guilford Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro, 2500 Summit Ave., Greensboro, NC 27405.
