Jeremiah “Jerry” Kelly McEvoy, 71, of Las Vegas, passed away Friday, June 3, 2011, at The Plaza Regency Nursing Home in Las Vegas. He was born Oct. 23, 1939, in Albany, N.Y., to Joseph E. and Katherine McEvoy. He graduated from St. Stephen High School in St. Stephen, S.C., in 1958. In 1962 he graduated from The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina. After receiving his commission in the U.S. Army, he served in the Quartermaster Corps in Germany. He was honorably discharged in 1968, achieving the rank of first lieutenant. He married the love of his life, Rita Carl, in 1972 in Des Plaines. He went on to work in a number of industries, including aluminum manufacturing, furniture sales and real estate. He dearly loved his dog, John Boy. He is survived by four brothers, Joseph (Antoinette) McEvoy of Niskayuna, N.Y., Michael (Karen) McEvoy of Johnsburg, Mark (Garian) McEvoy of Frisco, Texas, and Kevin (Jill) of Johnsburg; and many nephews and nieces. Also surviving are his dear friends, Peggy Valentine and Al and Nancy Lewis of Las Vegas; and the members of “The Club” in Las Vegas. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Rita; his parents; and his aunts, Margaret and Bess Kelly. A private ceremony will be held in Las Vegas. Tags: 1962
