RUTLAND, Jasper Jasper Lyles Rutland, 79, of North Charleston, husband of Leona A. Rutland, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, November 10, 2004, at a local hospital. The relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service for the former, Saturday, 10 a.m., November 13, 2004, at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, 7113 Rivers Ave., North Charleston. Entombment to follow in Carolina Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, November 12, 2004, at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home. Born December 3, 1924, in Orangeburg County. He was the son of the late Henry Frederick Rutland, and Maggie Bolen. Mr. Rutland was a Navy Veteran who served during WWII. He was a civil engineer with the Charleston Engineer Company. He taught at the Citadel for over 20 years and was on the Zoning Board for the City of North Charleston. Survivors include his wife, Leona Altman Rutland, of North Charleston, a daughter, Laura Fail and her husband Philip of Moncks Corner, S.C., three grandchildren, Mac Fail of Moncks Corner, Gray Fail of Moncks Corner and Jacob Fail of Moncks Corner. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Bethel United Methodist Church, Organ Fund, 57 Pitt Street, Charleston, S.C. 29401. Arrangements are being handled by CAROLINA MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME.
