ALLEN, Jann AIKEN, SC – Miss Jann Wad Allen, 59, of Aiken died Wednesday, April 5, 2006, at her home. A Memorial service will be held Saturday, 1 p.m., April 8, 2006, at South Aiken Presbyterian Church with visitation after the service until 3 p.m. in the church. Honorary pallbearers will be the ordained deacons and elders of South Aiken Presbyterian Church. Miss Allen was the daughter of the late John Hord Allen II and the late Nina Williams Allen of Aiken. She was a member of South Aiken Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday School, served as a deacon and was a Bethel Bible teacher. She was a member of Mensa, the Old 96 District Chapter of the DAR and the Charles Towne Chapter of the Colonial Dames XVII Century. She was a 1964 graduate of Aiken High School and earned a B.A. degree in math from Converse College in 1968 and a M. Ed. Degree from the Citadel Graduate School in 1991. She returned to her home in Aiken in 2003 after spending 21 years in Charleston, SC. Miss Allen retired from public school teaching in 2000, 20 of those years being spent at North Charleston High School. While in Charleston, she was a member of First (Scots) Presbyterian Church, was ordained as a deacon in 1994, ordained an elder in 1997 and served as Clerk of the Session 1999-2000. She is survived by a sister, Lynn A Booraem of Edgefield, SC, two nieces, a nephew and eight great-nieces and nephews. The family will be at the home at 718 South Boundary Ave., in Aiken.
