FOUNTAIN INN James Jimmy Weldon Cook, 80, husband of Joyce Kellett Cook, passed away at St. Francis Hospital on June 1, 2004. Born in Gray Court, he was the son of the late Broadus and Lula Rice Cook. Mr. Cook was a graduate of Presbyterian College and an honor graduate of The Citadel (Missing class of 1944). Mr. Cook was a Chevrolet dealer with Kellett Motor Co., and Cook Chevrolet. He was also a salesman with Do-Ann Realty. He was past president of the Fountain Inn Chamber of Commerce, a charter-member of Fox Run Country Club, a former member of Fountain Inn Lions Club and a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Fountain Inn. Mr. Cook served in the U. S. Army for three years, a saw duty in France, where he was awarded the Purple Heart. Surviving Mr. Cook are his wife, Joyce; one son, J. Weldon Cook II and his wife Ginn of Fountain Inn; one daughter, Rene C. Chandler of Aiken; two grand-children, Zonnie Jones IV of Travelers Rest and Casey Edwards of Simpsonville; two great- grand-children, Brittany Joy Burroughs and Kayla Brooke Edwards. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at their residence, 101 S. Weston St., Fountain Inn. A committal service will be held Friday, June 4, 2004 at 2 p.m. at Cannon Memorial Park with military rites. A memorial service will be held Friday, June 4, 2004 at 3 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church with the Revs. Ray Litts and Paul Betsill officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church Choir, 403 S. Weston St., Fountain Inn, 29644 or Home With a Heart, 220 James Madison Road, Liberty, 29657.
