James R. Tarr James R. Tarr, age 61 of Edmond, Oklahoma was born July 21, 1941 in Pittsburgh, PA to Walter and Helen Tarr. Jim served his country in the U.S. Air Force for 5 years, serving in Viet Nam and awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. He was a retired Professor in the College of Business Administration at the University of Central Oklahoma and a Fulbright Scholar. Jim married Nancy McCarthy on June 9th, 1963, in Green Cove Springs, Florida. He and Nancy are members of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Edmond and members of the Edmond Elks Lodge. Jim passed away on September 17, 2002 in Edmond, Oklahoma. His survivors include: wife, Nancy of the home; daughters and sons-in-law: Lisa and Joe Lange of Edmond, Margaret and Wayne DeShazer of Edmond; brother and sister-in-law: Walter and Pat Tarr of Franklin Lakes, NJ; sister: Margaret Hamilton of Pacific Palisades, California; granddaughters: Taylor, Austin and Jordan DeShazer and Abigail and Madeleine Lange. Services are scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Friday Sept. 20th, 2002 at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Edmond with interment at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Jesus House or the City Rescue Mission in Oklahoma City. Services under the direction of Matthews Funeral Home.
