PARKER, James Ross, 73, died Tuesday, April 1, 2003 at Baptist Hospital in Miami. Ross Parker was born in Baltimore, Maryland, and has been a lifelong resident of Tampa and active member of Christ the King C atholic Church. He graduated from Jesuit High School and The Citadel College with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Commerce, and served as a liaison pilot for the U.S. Army. He is survived by his loving wife and partner of 50 years, Barbara; his sister Catherine P. Kitty Runge and her husband Bill of Sanford, Fla; his daughter, Karen P. Cameron, his son Jeffrey R. Parker and his wife Katie, his son Thaddeus C. Parker, IV and his wife Margaret, 10 grandchildren and nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on April 5, 2003 at Jesuit High School Chapel at 4 p.m., followed by a celebration of Ross’ life. R oss Parker was the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Pepsi-Cola Bottling Company of Tampa until sale of the company in 1986. He was associated with many business enterp rises in Tampa. He was active in the Chief Executives’ Organization, Young Presidents’ Organization and World Presidents’ Organization, and past president of the Pepsi-Cola Bottlers’ Association. He was acti ve in many area charitable and civic organizations including having served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees at the University of Tampa and the Jesuit High School Foundation, a founder and director of the University Community Hospital, a Founder of the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center, and the Sertoma Club. He was a member of Palma Ceia Golf and Country Club, Tampa Yacht and Country Club, University Club, Ye Mystic Krewe of Gasparilla, Wade Hampton Golf Club and Wildcat Cliffs Country Club of North Carolina and the Ocean Reef Club in Key Largo. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Ross Parker Memor ial Scholarship Fund at Jesuit High School of Tampa, University Community Hospital Foundation, University of Tampa Scholarship Fund, or Baptist Health Foundation.
