James P. Culbreth, 81, of Lakewood, Colorado passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, April 26, 2026.
Born in Chester, Pennsylvania, James relocated with his family to Palatka, Florida in the 1950s. He was a 1962 graduate of Palatka South High School and a 1966 graduate of The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina. He was also a 1974 graduate of the University of South Carolina Law School. He honorably served in active duty as a Captain in the United States Air Force and was a Security Police Staff Officer.
James had been a long-time resident of the Denver, Colorado area. He spent much of his life as an attorney, certified with the Florida and Colorado Bar Associations. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed spending time in the area parks photographing nature and wildlife. He enjoyed spending time with friends and spending time with his family in Florida during the Christmas holidays.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James P. and Marjorie I. Culbert and his sister, Patricia C. Holloway.
He is survived by his niece, Christina Holloway-Williams (Matt) of Palatka, Florida.
Services will be held on Thursday, July 16, 2026 at 12:30pm at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado.
