James P. Coffey, 60, of Pageland, died July 14, 2009. He was born June 2, 1949, in San Diego, CA, son of the late Frank and Anita Crowdis Coffey. Graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 16, 2009 at High Point Baptist Church Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 15, from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at Sutton-Baumgartner Funeral Home. Mr. Coffey, a graduate of The Citadel, was a teacher/coach for Chicora High School, Hanahan High School, and Stall High School. Mr. Coffey’s baseball teams at Hanahan High School won the state championship in 1972 and 1973. Mr. Coffey retired from Charleston Naval Shipyard. Mr. Coffey, was a loving son-in-law and the caregiver of Lucille Lowry Cato, and attended St. Ernest Catholic Church. Survivors are his wife, Myra Coffey of Pageland, SC; brother, Johnny Coffey of Hanahan, SC; and sisters, Colleen Archambault of N. Charleston, SC, and Karen Coffey of Columbia, SC.
